Weekend at Beamish 03

The village, Colliery Village in 1913 consisted of Pit Cottages & gardens, Board School, Methodist Chapel, Drift Mine, Steam Winder, Pithead Buildings, Engine Shed, Powder House and Chauldron Waggons.

...the views from afar...

...typical dining area...

...the latrine...

...the common pastime...knitting and baking...

...typical sitting room...

...the oil lamp...no electricity yet...

...an old sewing machine...

...this one is interesting and it is not the one used by rubber tapper...it is a tool to squeeze out water from washed clothes...

...another typical sitting room...

...another pastime activity...making a mat from unused clothes...
patching work during night time...

...the tools...

...the only bus stop in the village...

...i guess this one is a projector...

...inside the chapel...

the only school in the village...separate entrance for boys and girls...

...old washing sinks for boys...

...the classroom for stage one pupils (year 1 to 3)...with low tables and chairs...

...the typical facial expression of a teacher...she said that she could not smile because the teacher during that time very strict one and never smiled to the pupils...

Danial... cantiknya suasana kampung kat sana kan?? Damai tenang jer.. tak berkeladak macam kampung kat sini... kat sini orang tak rajin tanam rumput... hanya suka tanam pokok bunga jer, tapi okaylah jugak kan..

Looks so serene and peaceful. Would be nice if can spend a weekend in that environment. Using that latrine would be an interesting experience too :-)
