time to fly...

will fly back to kuala lumpur and reach klia on august 11...then i need to fly to kota bharu on august 16 and will be there until august 27...back to kuala lumpur by august 28 and spend the remaining summer break until september 5 .....aaarrrggghhhhh....

Discovery Museum

A rich dispay of Newcastle long history...from roman era to modern Newcastle...a great transformation of the city.




The Turbinia...built on the Tyne in 1894 by Charles Parsons. She changed the face of history and was the first ship to be powered by steam turbines...and in 1897 she became the fastest steam vassel in the world. Newcastle has a long history in ship building. It was once main industry in Newcastle and one of the biggest in England until 1984...and now it just a part of Newcastle history. Here is the real vassel displayed in the meseum.

Durham

Durham - a small county, to the south of Newcastle upon Tyne, where the river Wear flows to the North Sea. Spent half day scouting the town.

The Prebends Bridge built by George Nicholoson for the Dean and Chapter from 1772 - 1778. It has been restored in 1955 and took two years to be completed. The restoration works completed in 1956.

Whitley Bay @ Coast

Went to Whitley Bay in the Coast area. Visited the ruin of a castle by the bay.



Tynemouth Priory and Castle, the guardian of River Tyne estuary, where one can find a first WWW canon facing the sea.



The castle walls protect the substantial remains of a medieval priory...



The magnificent east wall of the church...





and the tiny and yet remarkably complete 15th. century chapel...


and the ruin of a medieval chapel.

Night outing. This is an image of the famous Sir Charles Earl Grey. He lent his name to the famous tea - Earl Grey Tea!
